It's Been Especially Lovely Around Here.

Home

Fall in Turlock has been especially beautiful this year.
The crisp air, autumn colors, and breezy days
have been brilliant. In this post, I've included some
random pictures from around our home especially
for Anne Marie. Occasionally, she will text and
"need" a photo texted to her from some particular
viewpoint around home. We all have days when
our heart just needs a dose of home, don't we?

How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of
light and color are their last days.

You have a choice: You can raise kids or you can
live in a home where nothing touches the
floor but the furniture.

My home is not a place,
it is people.

I remember one Christmas being told there was no
Santa Claus, and the next Easter being told that there
was no Easter Bunny, and I remember how I feared, as
Thanksgiving approached, that they would tell me there
was no Grandmother.

There's no place like home.

And, Beyond Thanksgiving...

Kris and I snuck away for a weekend in
Half Moon Bay. We stayed at the Oceana,

Just a cute little tea towel I saw that weekend.
I liked the sentiment it displayed!

We planted this grafted apple vine in our backyard
during the summer. Each branch has a different variety
of apple. We have: Braeburn, Golden Delicious, Fuji,
Red Delicious, Gala, and Gravensteine.

The apples were ripe just in time for me to pick them
and use them in my Apple/Yam recipe for Thanksgiving!

The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and
dependent on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes (apples!)
as if it had nothing else in the universe to do.

The Primary children learned Praise to the Man this
year for their Sacrament Meeting Program. One
Sunday they invited Ty to play it on the bagpipes
for them. LOVE how some of them are
plugging their ears.

This is my very first rosebush.
I love that it peeks in through my kitchen window.

Our little backyard corner. We fixed a few
things up before Call and Whitney's open house.

This is "Puppers" speaking. Where's Anne Marie?

Speaking of her...if you'd like to catch up on how
she's doing in Boston, go here: SewPurple.

It Was A Very Good Year...

Turlock High School Varsity and Junior Varsity
Soccer Teams both won
Central California Championships this year.
A first!

At their celebration dinner last week Ty was honored
for being selected to the 'second team' by all
of the coaches in the league. Pretty fun.
And, he received 'all academic' recognition as well.
Go Dogs! Go Ty!

"All Things Bear Record..."

Recently, Call has been experimenting with
a camera. Several of his photos brought certain
scriptures of personal significance to my mind.

And again, verily I say unto you, he hath given
a law unto all things, by which they move
in their times and their seasons;

And their courses are fixed, even the courses of
the heavens and the earth, which
comprehend the earth and all the planets.

And they give light to each other in their times and in
their seasons, in their minutes, in their hours, in their
days, in their weeks, in their months, in their years--
all these are one year with God, but not with man.

The earth rolls upon her wings, and the sun giveth his
light by day, and the moon giveth her light by night,
and the stars also give their light, as they roll
upon their wings in their glory, in the
midst of the power of God.

Unto what shall I liken these kingdoms, that ye may
understand? Behold, all these are kingdoms, and any
man who hath seen any or the least of these hath
seen God moving in his majesty and power.
~Doctrine and Covenants 88:42-47~

And behold, all things have their likeness, and all things
are created and made to bear record of me, both things
which are temporal, and things which are spiritual;
things which are in the heavens above...

...and things which are on the earth, and things
which are in the earth, and things
which are under the earth...

...both above and beneath:
all things bear record of me.
~Moses 6:63~

And verily, verily, I say unto you, that whatsoever you
seal on earth shall be sealed in heaven; and
whatsoever you bind on earth, in my name and by
my word, saith the Lord, it shall be
eternally bound in the heavens.
~D&C 132:46~

When I consider the heavens, the work of thy fingers,
the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him?
and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels,
and hast crowned him with glory and honor.
Thou madest him to have dominion over the
works of thy hands; thou hast put all
things under his feet.
~Psalm 8:3-6~

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are
your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as
the heavens are higher than the earth, so are
my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
~Isaiah 55:8-9~

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear
heard, neither have entered into the heart
of man, the things which God hath
prepared for them that love him.
~1 Corinthians 2:9~

Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness
in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a
love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press
foreward, feasting upon the word of Christ,
and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the
Father: Ye shall have eternal life.

And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the
way; and there is none other way nor name given
under heaven whereby man can be saved in the
kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine
of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which
is one God, without end. Amen.
~2 Nephi:20-21~
